Could you briefly introduce yourself and describe your role at Streiff von Kaenel?
My name is Simon Hampl and I am a lawyer and partner at the law firm Streiff von Kaenel AG in Wetzikon, which specializes in employment law. In this capacity, I advise and represent companies of all sizes, from large corporations to SMEs, public authorities such as municipalities and government offices, as well as private individuals in all areas of employment law and public personnel law.
What is your core expertise in employment law – and how long have you been advising companies in this field?
Basically, I advise my clients in all facets of employment law, from out-of-court consulting to representation before courts and authorities. A focus of my work lies in dispute resolution, whether through out-of-court negotiations with opposing parties or, if necessary, conducting complex court proceedings, which can concern manifold topics such as wage claims, bonus entitlements, compensation for wrongful or discriminatory dismissals, or employment references - to name just a few. I have been working as a lawyer for nine years, of which over seven years with a clear focus on employment law.
What was your first impression of Jurilo as a legal chatbot?
The first impression of the now current version of Jurilo was very appealing. The operation is simple and self-explanatory, the answers to questions posed come very quickly and precisely.
What motivated you to test or support Jurilo.ch yourself?
Our law firm is an advisor to Jurilo and Lawise and works closely with them. The goal is to develop a chatbot that is as precise as possible and delivers answers at a high level. In this capacity, I continuously test Jurilo to be able to monitor the progress in the quality of answers.
How do you rate the quality of Jurilo.ch's answers, particularly in employment law?
The quality of the answers is, in my experience, very good in the vast majority of cases. The answers are carefully reasoned and are generally legally correct. Legally clearly incorrect answers are, in my experience, the absolute exception and occur significantly less frequently than with similar products such as ChatGPT. I dare to claim that the accuracy of the answers is significantly higher than with an "average" lawyer who does not specialize in employment law, if they had to answer questions "spontaneously" and without preparation.
In your opinion, are the answers legally reliable – even vis-à-vis lawyers or courts?
Very often the answers are flawless and could therefore also be used vis-à-vis lawyers and courts. The "crux" is that errors can occur and one must recognize these errors - but lawyers can also make mistakes. However, before making a submission to a court, one should in any case verify the statements of a chatbot or, if one is not able to do so oneself, have them verified. For example, there have already been several cases in the USA and Germany where lawyers submitted AI-generated legal briefs containing false information. This is obviously a violation of the lawyer's duty of care and must not occur.
For which target group is Jurilo.ch particularly valuable in your opinion?
Jurilo is interesting for anyone who is confronted with employment law questions. This can be a fiduciary who serves as a contact person for personnel law questions for an SME, or HR managers of all kinds (HR managers or similar). But also for legal professionals and lawyers, it represents a significant facilitation of work when comprehensive information and thus an initial reference point is provided within seconds, without having to research extensively in commentaries or databases.
What do you say to the idea of using Jurilo.ch as a first point of contact before an expensive lawyer appointment?
That can certainly make sense, especially if you are not sure whether you have a claim at all. You may be able to save yourself the effort of obtaining a "no." You certainly get an indication of whether it might be worthwhile to have the case examined more closely by a lawyer.
Would you recommend Jurilo.ch – and if so, why?
Absolutely. The quality of the product is very good and the prices are fair. Furthermore, the quality continues to develop positively through the increased number of users and feedback, so that the accuracy of the answers is constantly being improved.
